NEW ZEALAND TEAM AT HOME WARWICKSHIRE MATCH. THE .MATCH DRAWN. (Australian Press Association <fe Sun.) (Received this day at 8 a.m.) LONDON. July 26. Rain prevented play being resumed at the usual hour and when the New Zealanders were aide to take the field they were handicapped by a wet 'hall. Kiliter and Quaife offered a determined resistance and their stand, as it turned out, saved the County. They were still in at lunch by which time the score had advanced to 2 for 118. Kilner. however, was out to the last ball of MeGirr's first over on resuming. He had hatted 1.00 minutes for his 77. and hit eight fours. Parsons and Cronin were quickly dismissed and Quaife followed after a defensive innings which lasted for two hours. Calthorpe went at 175 and Merritt who was most .successful with tho hall was rapidly finishing off the innings, when torrential rain came oil and the game had to he abandoned with only three wickets to fall. 'Pile New Zealanders were thus most unluckily deprived of an innings victory. despite their brilliant hatting, keen fielding and steady howling. CHRISTCHURCH, July 26. Air E. E. Luttrell, secretary of the Canterbury Cricket Association, has received a cablegram from Air AV. L. King, a member of the association, now on a visit to England, advising that J. Newman, of Hampshire, had accepted an offer to come to Christ-, church as coach. He will leave England by the Corinthic on September IG, and will arrive in the Dominion on October 24.
