THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
(Australian A N.Z. Cable Association.) BRITISH DELEGATES. Geneva, July in. Lord Cecil and Mr Hridgeman are returning to London immediately to consult Cabinet. It is reported an agreement m principle Tins been reached regarding the total cruiser tonnage, halt a million for England and America ami 325,000 for Japan. CONFERENCE STARTLED. (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) GENEVA. July If). The conference was startled late in the afternoon by the bald announcement that Lord Cecil and Mr Bridgeman were returning to London to consult Cabinet. It was immediately interpreted as prestaging a breakdown, hut Mr Bridgeman, in a special interview, dispelled this view, saying: “So far from indicating a rupture I am more hopeful to-day than since the Conference opened. We have simply received a request to return to explain to Cabinet more fully than telegrams can, the exact position before wc enter into a linnl agreement. Probably the reason for the recai'l is Air Baldwin’s departure for Canada next week. T expect to be hack in Geneva on Monday to continue the conversations.”
