LONDON, July 16. At Christie’s art sale, the late Sir George Holford’s Italian pictures from the Dorchester gallery realised 145,161 guineas. Lorenzo Lotto’s masterpiece jxntrait, ‘’Lueretia.” was brought for the National Gallery for twenty-two thousand guineas. An American. Mr Knoedler, secured Pe.sellino’s ‘‘Virgin and Child” for sixteen thousand guineas. representing 250 guineas per square inch.
EMPIRE ART EXHIBITION. LONDON. July 16. The British Empire Academy, with which the Dominion Artists Club has amalgamated, is holding an Empire exhibition of paintings in London in the autumn of 1928. Selection committees have been'formed in all the capitals of the Empire.
