FOUND DEAD. CHRISTCHURCH, July 11. Daniel Fitzgerald, single, of Islington, was lound lying dead by a tramline near Bush Inn, Kit-carton, at 1.3') yesterday morning. There was a bicycle near which showed signs of having been run over by a vehicle.

At a dinner to the Canadian Soccer team Sir C. P. Skerrett- presided, and Hon. J. G. Coates and Sir Charles Statham. Speaker of the House, and Mr If. E. Holland were present. Mr Coates spoke of the value of visits by athletic teams to one anaothcr’s countries and hoped this visit wotu’d help to foster trade with Canada. The volume was increasing as it, was. Both countries held a great heritage to develop. The Canadians presented badges of life membership to Hon. ,J. G. Coates, Sir Charles Statham and the New Zealand officials. Alderman Adam. MOTOR BOAT IN TROUBLE. CHRISTCHURCH. July 11. Through a rope fouling the pmpclior a motor boat became unmanageable on Sumner bar yesterday. She had four men aboard who made desperate signal’s for assistance, as I lie sea was very rough. Alter a good deal of trouble the lifeboat got a low rope aboard and effected a rescue amid cheers from hundreds wlni watched the incident.
