The match was resumed in brilliant sunshine on a drying pitch, which at first favoured the howlers to some extent. but later became more favourable to the batsmen. Gunn’s wicket fell at 92 and then Walker with AAliysall made a capital stand, putting on 106 in one hundred minutes, both were otit in the same over to Page, who TaS the only bowler of seven tried to meet with much success. AAliysall, who- was in three hours for his 82. was missed three times in the sixties. Lowry disposed of Carr with a brilliant catch at long off. having to run twenty yards to reach the ball. The latter batsman appeared to find the bowling easy and gave considerable trouble. The visitors’ total was passed after four and a-half hours’ batting, for tbe loss of only six wickets, with Payton and Staples both well set. A heavy thunderstorm then came on and the game had to be abandoned, leaving the match drawn. Page came out with four wickets for 68, hut the batsmen had got the measure of Merritt and Blunt.
