NEW ZEALAND TEAM AT HOME. LOXDOX. July 1. The Xew Zealanders to-day met a side representing the South ot Scotland in a one-day match at Galashiels. The wicket was exceedingly sticky after rain, and the howlers had the batsmen at their mercy. Lomy did not use his regular howlers m the Scotchmen’s first innings, but went on himself and with Page dismissed them for 71. Oliver was also tried, hut without success.

The Xew Zealanders found Anderson equally difficult, and only compil'd! 127. South in the second attempt did a little hotter, and had lost seven tor 70 when stumps were drawn. Xew Zealand winning on the first innings. The game was not taken very seiiouslv. and was played throughout in village green spirit.

Five thousand spectators attended the match at Hradford between the New Zealand touring cricket team and Yorkshire. The weather was fine and the wicket, though soft, was not at all treacherous, giving Yorkshire, who went in first, a splendid opportunity for a good day’s hatting.

Appearances favoured Holmes and Sutcliffe putting on another century in the opening partnership, until Hlunt completely heat the Test champion. Oldroyd, who joined Holmes, was immediately sent back to the pavilion without scoring, and two wickets were down for !il runs.
