SAVED BY PARACHUTE.
PARIS, May IT. The necessity of parachutes for Army airmen was demonstrated in dramatic fashion at Yillacouhlav aerodrome, near Paris, this morning. An Army ’plane was Hying over a deep valley when it was caught in an air pocket that spun it round like a top, pitching the pilot from his seat into mid-air. Happily the pilot had a parachute 'fashed to his body and landed in safety. The mechanic, left alone, tried yi get the machine on to an even keel. Finding this impossible, he jumped out and also landed with his parachute without injury. The aeroplane crashed to the ground and caught fire.
