(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) UN EMPLOYMENT. WELLINGTON, June 28. The .Mayor. Mr G. A. Troup, said to-day that the unemployed situation in Wellington is showing no improvement. There wn- a public meeting tonight. It was decided to invite subscriptions front the citizens, and to ask business firms to arrange with their employees for the making of certain deductions in the employees’ wages towards the unemployed funds, and also that the amount subscribed should he spent on city works.

The Mayor stated that an application hail been made for sanction to borrow further £20.600. The Wellington Football Association /has decided to give all the proceeds at the Basin Reserve on Saturday next to the unemployed fund. The Association Bands have agreed to assist.

A street collection day is to he held on Friday.

The professional musicians are also to give a concert to assist.

It. was suggested that the Churches also should take a retiring collection next Sunday towards the unemployed funds. DUNEDIN. June 2*.
