Merritt showed line form with the hall, when the match was resinned today In all he took seven v.'ickois f r (-L but despite this the batsmen put it]) a good defence after losing two wickets cheaply Haig and Weed came together and gave a lot of trouble. The partnership-which last;-,I 70 minutes was responsible for 121. llaig passed the century, his ] 11 occupying under two hours, and included two sixes and nineteen fours. The total reached 287.

This is their forty-iirst three figure partnership, thus beating the record of Hobbs and Hayward, who had folly.
