FIGURE* FOR I AST YEAR. WKLI.JNGTON, June 27. Official figures of timber imports lrom 192(5, just released, give total importations valued at £851.029. This amount was paid for the following:— Hewn logs 17,781 Rough sawn 57.1.717 Sawn dressed 61.811 Rutter boxes 21.115 Cheese crates 11,938 Laths, palings, etc 159,-137 Of rough sawn timber ash, hickory, lancewotid. lignum viate, mahogany and walnut accounted for £Bl2l, and the quantity was 219,285 super feet. Cedar totalled 8,803,137 feet valued at £101.962, Oregon pine 14,669,514 feet valued at £93.197. and hemlock 578,501 feet valued at £4261. Hardwood from Australia totalled 14,951,606 feet valued at £2-14.970. Rough sawn oak totalled 2,125.300 feet valued at £63.017. and of this Japan sent us 2.200,651 feet valued at £56,697. Of dressed timber imported hemlock was the principal with 3,699.9-16 feet valued at £35,886, and the whole of it came from Canada and the United States, Dressed Oregon pine imported consisted of 1.875.016 feet worth £24.442; dressed spruce of 218.082 feet worth C 2295.

For butter boxes 1,048.->72 feet were imported and for cheese crates 8-)->.-727 feet. The value of laths imported was £10.571, palings £3926. poles £87,402. posts £1.589. shingles £7.569, and sleepers £14.805.
