Asked by the Chairman if he did not think it would be better to go to New Zealand and have their legal rights tested, without disturbing the peace of the Commonwealth. Fisk replied that ho did not think the trade in Australia would be any more peaceful, liepause they would still he under a cloud when the Western Electric Company proposed to install a .broadcasting station in New Zealand. He agreed that it use Amalgamated Wireless protection rights, provided the latter had the right to collect royalty for their use. It was a difficult thing to ask the New Zealand Government to pay royalty when the whole matter was under review in Australia. If the C’omyionwealth established a broadcasting monopoly, his Company would have to negotiate with the Government along the same lines as.with New Zealand.

DISABLED STEAMER. BRISBANE, June 17

The steamer Proteus in tow of the Crosskes has arrived in port. The Proteus drifted helplessly with a broken rudder for ten days. Food and water had to be rationed. There was no wireless equipment and the officers had constantly to mount guard over the mutinous Chinese crew.
