— MONDAY, JUNE 13.

The Board met at 8 p.m. Present— Messrs J. J. Breeze. (Chairman), O.

Davidson. O. Heinz, R. Moharry, W. Jeffries, T. IV. Duff, and E. A. Walls. .An apology was made for the absence of Mr Keenan. 'i ho minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWAIiT) CORRESPONDENCE. From Health Department. Wellington, agreeing to annual levy.—Received. From Otago Hospital Board in reference to admission of n child to hospital from Westland, notifying a ■special charge of £1 4s per week.— Received. The Secretary’s action in authorising admittance of the child under its guarantee, the father having guaranteed payment was approved. Some discussion ensued as to the special charge, which Dr Valintine notified he considered reasonable under the circumstances. The Board discussed the subject at some length, it being stated that the Otago Board charged outside patients £4 4s. It was resolved on the motion of the Chairman that an endeavour he made for reciprocity in charges with the Otago Board, i From National Provident Fund in reference to refunds to lie made.—Received. From Hokitika Boy Scouts applying for use of garage.—Received and request granted. j From P. Richards applying for two ; weeks leave of absence.—Received and ! request granted. j From Nurse Morgan resigning position as probationer.—Received and accepted. It was reported that Miss Coles was filling tbo vacancy. A number of formal letters and also in connection with aid, wore received and dealt with. REPORTS. Front Surgeon Superintendent reporting patients in hospital on May Ist were:—2o males, 13 females; admitted during May 19 males, 12 females; total treated 37 males. 23 females—92. Discharged cured 14 males, 10 females; died 3 males, 2 females; total discharged 17 males, 12 females—29. In hospital on 31st May 20 males, 13 females—33. Tll hospital for over two month 10 males, 0 females.—Received. From Treasurer reporting receipts £1317 17s 4d, payments £B5l 4s sd, debit balance £782 0s Id.—Received. Air Jeffries complimented tbo chairman on the excellence of the gas lighting arrangements of the Board room, made since Mr Heinz had come to the Board table. It was resolved to fix tlie annual Hospital Ball for 24th August. Mr Meliarry reported that matters in connection with the Hos pital Ball at Kokatahi 011 Wednesday, June 22nd, were (progressing satisfactorily. Tlie matter of obtaining additional labour for the grounds was left to Mr Davidson to arrange. Accounts amounting to £264 18s lid were passed for payment. The Board rose at 8.40 p.m.
