A BURGLARY. CHRISTCHURCH, June 13. I lucres broke into G. W. Smith’s Store at Opawn Road last night, and stole a quantity of shirts, collars, rugs, seeks, and cigarettes. It was a stormy night, and the thief was undisturbed. An attempt to force a lock with a jemmy failed, and the robber then used the jemmy to .smash the glass panel of the door, by which an entrance was made. COMPENSATION ([.ATMS. CHRISTCHURCH. June 11. Compensation claims arising out of
a collision between a tramway trailer and a railway engine at Colombo Street crossing last week, have been lodged with the Railway Department. Many passengers on the crowded trailer state that they received injuries as tho result of the accident and the Department is investigating all the claims.
DEATHS OF DOGS. AUCKLAND, June I I. An outbreak of distemper resulted in the deaths in the city of scores of dogs. The symptoms are very similar to flu in human brings, and the disease is highly infectious.

A MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR. AUCKLAND.
