LATE LOCALS
The Westland County Council met this afternoon at 2 p.m. After dealing with some business the Council adjourned at 2.30 to enable 'members to attend the funeral of the late Sister Mary Joseph, resuming for business later. A real start has keen made in a new industry in the Waikato district—the sale of day-old calves. Two companies are now purchasing on a systematicbasis, and great interest is being taken in the matter. Prior to thus season most of the calves have been killed for their skins alone. The companies operating are purchasing the calves for export as veal and for hv-produet purposes. It is anticipated that the project will become Dominion-wide in size before very long.
