SOIL CONGRESS. [Australia A; N.Z Cable Association.! WASHINGTON. June 13. ' On the eve of his departure on vacation to Blackhills, President Coolidge welcomed the delegates to the first international soil congress at which twenty-five nations, including Russia are represented. The delegates will spend a week discussing the problem of confining the fertility of the soil and development of barren land for crop production. Mr. Coolidge pledged the resources of the Government, he said an interchange of ideas and personal association were made possible by such international gatherings. This was productive of a. better understanding among different peoples and would ultimately lead to a. more universal desire for peace among all nations. Mr Coolidge pointed out United States was spending 137 million dollars every year through the Department of Agriculture with 103 hundred thousand dollars for scientific research.
