A man was stabbed in front of the magistrates at the South-End Police Court yesterday. An ex-Canadian -soldier funned Edwnrd George Wilson had been charged with theft by William Edward Salmon, a lumberman, of Sycamore-grove. South-End. It- was stated that Wilson had lodged at Salmon’s house for some months, and when lie left a razor and a pair of boots were missing. Salmon charged him with stealing them. While he was giving his evidence Salmon heatedly referred to Wilson as a “skunk.” As soon as the magistrate announced that Wilson would lie fined £2. Salmon rose in his seat and shouted. “Now T have got you.” Wilson was seen to reel and fall and a reporter, seeing a stiletto between Wilson's shoulders, pulled the weapon out.
Policemen pounced on Salmon and held him while Wilson was carried out of court and sent, to hospital. “Can 1 make a statement?” shouted Salmon as he was being held, bill he was advised nut to and was taken out of the court. A few minutes later Salmon was brought hack and charged with attempting to murder Wilson. When told he would lie remanded in custody he replied. “Thank you.”
