Renown states the Duke and Duchess of York attended the second concert of the cruise, given by the ship’s company on the quarter deck, despite the great heat of the Gulf of Aden. Big seas were encountered in the morning and the ship had to stop so that the port boat,which was being buffeted by the Wales might be turned in. There was a sudden, delightful change in the evening, when the sea calmed. The African coast is expected to he picked up 10-night.

At a meeting of the anti-Lang Labour Caucus, it was decided, for the sake of unity in the Labour movement, to accept the conference proposals made by the Federal Labour leaders. This move will isolate the Conroy Executive.
Simultaneously with this decision, the Central Branch of the Australian Workers’ Union, with a membership of 20,003, decided to withdraw its affiliation from the Trades and Labour Council as the Council has ceased to function in the interests of industrialists.

Members of the Mutch Caucus express the view that they cannot approve of the action of the Conroy Fexcutive in expelling Lang and his Ministers from the party. DROUGHT IN QUEENSLAND. BRISBANE. June 10. Central and Western Queensland are in the grip of a drought which is said to he the most severe in the history of the State. The'drought in some places has entered upon the third year and there is little hope of amelioration before November or December, when monsoonal rains may fall. The areas involved comprise the greater part ot Queensland’s sheep raising country. Millions of sheep are • being hand fed and millions have died.
DARWIN TRIAL. DARWIN, June 10
At the trial of three aborigines, charged with throwing a spear at missionaries at Croedole Island Mission, cabled on 3rd .March, evidence was given that a stockwhip was used oil the aborigines for certain offences. Robertson stated he administered a punishment. One accused was found guilty and remanded for sentence.
