MISSING MEN PICKED UP.
AUCKLAND, .Tune n.
Advices from Whakataue by telephone to-night- stated that five members of the crew of the launch Scout, who have been missing from OpotPsince Friday, were picked up liv the auxiliary schooner Motu on AMiale Island to-day. It is understood the launch was driven on the island during a gale while the men were ashore, and was wrecked. A COURT MARTIAL. HAWERA, June 10.
Charges of disobeying a lawful command given by a superior officer, using insubordinate language and performing an act to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, were preferred against Staff Sergt.-Major C. S. M. Honey, at a sitting of the court martial to-day. The charges arose from an incident alleged to have taken place at the annual camp of the second Mounted Rifles at Wnverlev Racecourse last month. Accused refused to go to his tent when ordered to do so by Captain B. IV. Harvey. He refused to take orders from the territorial officer, and performed an insulting act with his hand. Counsel for accused raised an objection to ttee charges on the ground that a territorial officer had no jurisdiction over a member of the permanent staff.
