[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association..’ NEW ZEALAND WIN. KfRK WINDEYER C UP. - SYDNEY, June 9. The final golf match to-day between New Zealand and Victoria was played at Rose Bay, in perfect weather. New Zealand won by four matches to two.
All the games were well contested and the standard of golf very high.
A feature of the day was a victory by Duncan over Wliitton, the open champion of Australia.
SYDNEY, June 10,
The “Herald” commenting on New Zealand golfers’ winning of the Kirk Windeyer Cup, says: “It was a meritorious performance. The visitors are likely to prove much more formidable opponents on their own links, for in Australia they have experienced trouble in accurately gauging distances. owing to the brighter light, and their defeat of such a strong team as Victoria, was undoubtedly a magnificent performance. The victory will be very popular in New Zealand where the game is making rapid strides.”
