LINDBERG H’S RET U RN. WASHINGTON, June 8
Gigantic preparations for the reception of Captain Lindbergh, who is! arriving back to the United States by tbo cruiser Memphis on the 11th. of June, are about completed. The ceremonies arc about completed. They will begin with an official welcome at the foot of the Washington monument, after which thoro will he addresses at the Capitol Building. There will be a State Ball in the evening, lo whi' 1 the diplomats arid the cream of the capital society will he invited.
The Arrangements Coihniittee consider it will be imprssiblo Lo accommodate the throng that is certain to attend tbo festivities, which will be the greatest for years in Washington.
Airs Lindbergh will be received by Airs Coolidge, and will remain as her guest, after which the son and mother will proceed to New York. Captain Lindbergh plans to fly to New York in his own famous plane, where, it is indicated, his reception will far outstrip all previous demonstrations.
FRENCH DEBT TO ITS. WASHINGTON, June 9. The Secretary of the Treasury (Mr Mellon) declined to discuss the French debt and M. Poincare’s statement, but stated United States debt commission was non-existent and it was not clear how a revision would be possible. He believed action by Congress would be necessary.
WHEAT CROP. (Received this dav at 9.30 ii.m.) WASHINGTON, June 9. The Department of Agriculture indicates the winter wheat production will total 537 million bushels, which is seventy-two per cent of the normal. The Secretary of Agriculture (J. Ardine) expressed the hope for better prices for wheat than hitherto prevailed. Ho points out this year’s yield will be lower than 1920 estimates, indicating the crop will be thirty-three million bushels less and the new estimates expected shortly will increase the diminution. This shortage will naturally tend to increase prices. There has been some droughts in Oklahania and Colorado, but in other parts of the west whip!), he visited on a recenttrip, the crop is good. He believes the price of wheat now in crop will increase. RECORD PRICE. NEW YORK. June 5. A sale of a Stock Exchange scat is arranged at 220 thousand dollars, making a new record, three thousand dollars higher than the previous highest price.
