PENNY POSTAGE. MELBOURNE, June 8.
Referring to the remarks of Mr Gibson, Federal Postmaster-General, on the subject of postage, and cabled today, Sir Joseph Ward said that the fear Mr Gibson expressed that a return to penny postage would mean a reduction of revenue was not justified hv the experience in England, Canada and Xew Zealand, Tn the latter conn., try lie said, the general opinion was that penny postage would mean a loss of revenue, hut within two years after its adoption the revenue increased so much that it made up for any initial reduction. Similar conditions were sure to be experienced when it was reintroduced after its abolition as a war measu res.
X.S.W. POLITICS. . SYDNEY, June 8. A report sent last night that Mr l.ang and his colleagues, and also Mr Seale were expelled from the Labour Movement proves to have been incorrect. There was a motion to that effect before the Conference. It was not dealt with, hut was inadvertedly included amongst the business transacted. (Received this day at. 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 9. A meeting of the officials of the Executive of the Australian Labour Party expelled Mr Bang and all the present Cabinet and members of the Seale Executive from the Labour movement.
