PENNY POSTAGE. MELBOURNE, June 8.

Referring to the remarks of Mr Gibson, Federal Postmaster-General, on the subject of postage, and cabled today, Sir Joseph Ward said that the fear Mr Gibson expressed that a return to penny postage would mean a reduction of revenue was not justified hv the experience in England, Canada and Xew Zealand, Tn the latter conn., try lie said, the general opinion was that penny postage would mean a loss of revenue, hut within two years after its adoption the revenue increased so much that it made up for any initial reduction.
