MUSSELS, April M. The American, British, and Swedish delegates will arrive hy special boats at Ostend. Zeohrugge. and Antwerp, while the Spanish, Italian, French, Swiss, and ntht'r Continental representatives will come hy special trains.

Belgian cities are vicing with each other in providing attractions for the visitors, and among the more noteworthy events will ho a procession on the sea at Ostend, a procession of history and folklore in Brussels, and a trip on the Scheldt round the port at Antwerp.

The departure of the special steamers has been arranged so that the first will not leave Belgium until a clear fortnight after the inauguration of the Convention.

FIGHT WITH PYTHON. JOHANNESBURG, April 14

Mr Van der Merwe, a farmer living on a small holding on the Natal-Zulu-land border, has been visiting Johannesburg for special treatment for wounds in his right hand, the outcome of a light with a python.

Ho states that he was out shooting when he saw a, large python basking on some rocks. He estimated its length at 15 feet or thereabouts. He fired at the creature, hut merely wounded it, and it came at him with its mouth gaping. He tried to jab his gun, held in both hands, in its mouth, hut the creature diverted his aim and seized his left hand, almost breaking his wrist. He withdrew it, the recessed teeth of the reptile (a <• nstrietor and noil-venomous) tearing the flesh hadlv. All' Van dor Merwe then dealt the python a blow on the neck and dodged behind a small tree, but the python came at him again round the tree, trying to get a grip with teeth or tail. At that moment the farmer got his gun again into action and, as the snake v.ns preparing to strike, blew its head olf with a lucky shot.
