GOLFING.
GREYMOUTH V. HOKITIKA
The annual match between the above clubs for the Seddon Cup was placed on the Omoto Links, Greymouth, yesterday, under ideal conditions. After a very close match, Hokitika won the cup by 12 matches to 10.
At the conclusion of the match, Mr IV .P. McCarthy, on behalf of Mr T. E. Y. Seildon, who was unavoidably absent, presented the cup to tbe captain of tbe Hokitika Club, Air Jas Mncfarlane, who returned thanks on behalf of the Club to the donor of the cup and to the Greymouth Club. The following are the detailed results of the match, Hokitika players being mentioned first:
LADIES SINGLES. Miss M. Moore defeated Miss Ale drum 8 and 7.
Mrs Neville lost to Miss Kettle, 2 and 1. Airs Staveley lost to Airs Fletcher, 3 and 2. M iss Lewis lost to Airs Smith, 3 and 2. Mrs Burns defeated Airs Thorpv, 7 and 0. Aliss King lost to Miss Berry, 8 and Airs Alacfarlane lost to Miss N. Tennent 2 and 1. Af rs Williams defeated Miss Hnmbleton 3 anil 2. MEN’S SINGLES. Chesney lost to AleCartliy, 4 and 3. Neville and Kettle, all square. Steel defeated Alathieson, 6 and 5. Spencer defeated Bevell 2 and 1. Partridge defeated Fletcher, 1 up. Mottram lost to A. K. Smith, 4 and 3.
O’Doherty defeated Garde. 3 and 2 Cagney and Thorpv. all square.
AIIXED FOURSOMES. Chesney and Miss Moore defeated AlcCarliy and Aliss Ateldrum, 5 and 4. Neville and Mrs Neville defeated Kettle and Airs Kettle, 5 and 4. Steel and Mrs Staveley defeated Alathieson and Airs Fletcher. 1 up. Spencer and Aliss Lewis lost to Revell and Airs Smith. 2 up.
Partridge and Mrs Burns defeated Fletcher and Afrs Thorpv, 4 and fi. Alottram and Miss King defeated Smith and Miss Berry 1 up.
