another, successful DAY
The Westland Sub-Union were favoured with another line King’s Birthday (holiday for their annual seven-a-side tournament. There was a g°od attendance and the various games were run off promptly, though it was late enough when the final ol the junior game was finished at 5 p.m., the junior semi-final taking up much oieitime nearly half an hour owing to several knock-outs, and thirteen minutes overtime having to be played to find the winner. The play generally "as not of as high a class as usual, there being no senior players engaged, while the handling by most of the teams "as exceedingly poor. School (third and Kokatalii (juniors) undoubtedly showed to best advantage in thenhandling of the ball. The bantams and schrimps also had a day out and they gave a very attractive exposition the final of the bantams showing the very young fry to possess a good inkling of the game. The most notable player of the day was Dale of the Bimu schrimps team, who was in great scoring form, and who finished up in the filial by practically scoring all the points (27) for his team. The referees for the day were Bev. Father Mackay, Messrs Freitas, A\ llliamsou. Kearns, and Thomas, had a busy dav and carried out their duties with every success.
