WESTLAND PROGRESS LEAGUE.
TCESDAY, MAY 24th
The Committee sat at 7.40 p.m. Present: Dr Tcichclmann (President.); Messrs W. Jeffries, J. J. McIntosh, D. J- Evans, J. W. Morris (lion secretary).
Apologies were received from -Messrs Butler, Richards and Craw. The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed and the out"aid correspondene approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE.
From H. A. Boddington enquiring if any photographs of Westland scenery were available for display in connection with an exhibit at the Dunedin Winter Show.—Received, application to lie made to the Publicity Department f>r the loan of the pictures.
From Canterbury Progress League replying that the League would do all in its power to promote tourist traffic to Westland.—Received. From same forwarding copy of minutes of monthly meeting.—Received. From Alarllmrough League forwarding copy of minutes of previous meeting.—Received. From Canterbury League notifying proposed annual conference of South Island Leagues at Christchurch about June 18th. and inviting notices of motion and appoiutmet of delegates; also notifying delegates would be taken to Lake Coleridge and Akaroa.— Received. Dr Tcicbelniann and Air Alorris were appointed to represent the Westland League. It was resolved to ‘urge attention to the Haast (Pass track : also with respect to further publicity and opening up of tours in the South Island. The question of back railway freights was mentioned, and if was decided to frame a remit on the subject. The matter of supporting the Bluff-Mell oiinio steamer service was agreed to.
From Railway Depa trmont asking support to publication of booklets referring to the AYailio Gorge Winter Excursion trip.—Received, and referred to the President to ascertain what local support is available. general. The date of the annual meeting was fixed for AYednesday 15th. Juno. Air Jeffries referred to the matter of mails to the South. There Avast only one mail a week to the Waitaha Settlement. The AYailio mail was also cut down to twice weekly. It was resolved to wait on the Postmaster with regard to both matters, Afessrs Jeffries and Morris to lie the delegates. The meeting rose at 8.40 p.m.
