LATE LOCALS.
The death took place this afternoon about 2.33 o'clock of Quong Chong On. the well-known Chinese fruiterer of Revel! Street. Deceased has been in business in the town for nearly f >rty years. He was of a. kind and generous nature, always ready to help any worthy eause. He had been in failing health for some time past, and had been remoied to Westland Hospital for treatment, his death not being unexpected. A bumper house- is e-xpeeled at the Soldiers' Hall to-morrow night when the Excelsior Kootba.ll Club s Benefit Ball in aid of injured players takes place. Ross’ first-class orchestra wTTT render the latest dance selections, while the floor will lie all that could he desired. The visiting Runanga hookey players have been invited to attend. The price of admission is a popular due and no doubt the worthy cause will induce many to he present,—-Advt.
