AIRMAN CRASHES AT REVIEW SYDNEY, May 9.
The conclusion of to-day’s ceremonies in Canberra was marred hv a serious aeroplane accident. While participating in the final stages of the review, an aeroplane piloted by Flying-Officer Ewen of Point Cook, flying under fifteen other machines, crashed. The aeroplane seemed suddenly to loop and then dived, striking the earth with a terrific* force, hitting its way two feet into the ground.' The machine splintered and hurst into flames. Resellers managed to release the pilot who was hospitalled, critically injured. TWENTY YEARS’ HARD LABOUR. (Received this day at 10.25 u.m.) SYDNEY. May 10.
Toaurua, a native of Solomon Islands. and a seaman on the steamer John Williams, was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment, with hard labour, in commotion with the death ot a compatriot (cabled on April 21st.) The Judge said lie would order roaurua s deportation.
