SENSATIONAL PRISON ESC A Pl* LONDON. .May 9.
A sensational escape is reported from Belfast prison of three men sentenced to life for murder, and one to twelve years for attempted murder. Ihe escape was cleverly planned both inside and outside. About four in the morning a motor-car entered the gardens of
a convent adjoining. At a given signal, the four convicts, who were .states to he occupying one cell, rushed to the corridor, seized warders, gagged am trussed them, took their revolver* wherewith they entered the outer yard sealed the wall, and entered the car. which drove more than a mile a minirti towards the Free State border, fifty miles away.

As a sequel to a Communist procession James Ferguson and George Airey were charged at Newcastle with bringing the King’s uniform into contempt. One was dressed as a soldier and the other as a sailor armed with dummy rifles participating in a tableau shooting Chinese. They were remanded.
