Perfect weatl ter ijrevallcd on Saturday for the football fixtures. There was a good attendance on Cass Square which was in capital order for play. Excelsiors won by 14 to Magpies 0. The latter were playing their opening senior game. The play was fairly even in the first half, King and Hahn scoring tries which were not converted. In the second half Excelsiors had the host of the play, and Barron scored. King converting, and also kicking a penalty goal. The play generally was of an interesting nature, but an accident resulting in n home player having his leg; broken marred the pleasure of phi vers and onlookers.

STARS V. EXITED. Tin's senior game played at Greymouth resulted in a close and exciting finish, in a win for Stars by 9- points to United 8. Eor Stars, J. Steel, who was playing his last game for his Club prior to transferring to Christchurch, scored two tries and kicked a penalty goal, while for United tries were scored by Jamieson and Mathieson, .Bell eonverting one.

EXCELSIOR B V. ROSS. The Excelsior B junior team journeyed to Ross, where the Ross team showed a marked superiority, winning by the substantial score of 27 to 0. EXCELSIOR A V. KOKATATTT. This junior game was played on Cass Square and proved an enjoyable and well contested match, the Excelsiors having the best, combination and they won by a margin of 9 points to nil. The third grade match School v. excelsiors took place at 1.30 p.m.. and after a very open game, in which both teams showed to advantage School proved victorious by 21 points to M.
