The aims and objects of Australia and New Zealand were similar. For that reason, every opportunity for co-opera-tion in trade and in the commercial and tourist traffic .should be availed of, and encouraged. ITe was inclined to think that ranch more might he done to foster this spirit. He felt sure that an exchange of visits by the representatives of the respective Governments and by mutual commercial interests would assist in this direction.

FIRE AT MELBOURNE. MELBOURNE, May 3. There was a fire at the Australian Otis Engineering Company’s works in South Melbourne, part of which is occupied hv the Armstrong Holland Machinery Company. The fire caused damage to the extent of £1,500.
