[by TELEGRAM—PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.! ELECTION RESULTS. AUCKLAND, April 28. All the retiring members of the Auckland City Council were re-elected except A. Thompson. There are six new members, including Miss Hasten. 'There are three Labour members, compared with two in the Inst Council. Mr F. W. H. Brinsden, with 8933 votes, topped the poll, and the next thirteen places were tilled by retiring councillors. Miss E. Melville, the only lady member of the old Council, was re-elected, and another lady' candidate in Miss A. IT. G. Hasten, also gained a seat. Labour obtained in. creased representation. Among defeated candidates were Messrs A. J. Stallworthy (22nd), A. Hall iSclton (23rd), E. TV. Allison, jnr. (27th) and J. R. London (40th).M r A. Thompson, who resigned from the Licensing Committee at the time of the controversy over the grantng of a license to the Ambassadors’ Hotel, and who was chairman of the Tramways Committee of the Auckland City Council, was the only member of the old Council rejected. He wound up 47th (’with 311) votes) of 01 standing. For the Auckland Harbour Board, Messrs Bloodwortli, Hutchinson, ltuler and Johnson were elected. For the Auckland Hospital Board, the retiring members were re-elected excepting Mr TV. A. Thompson, replaced by Mr M. .7. Savage (Labour). WELLINGTON, April 28. A proposal that the Wellington rates be levied wholly on the unimproved values, was carried by 8334 votes to 12G2. In tlic Hospital Board election, Rev. IT. Van Stavern topped the poll. The only alteration is that Mr E. Vine lost his seat to Mr 11. Gill. CHRISTCHURCH. Aprl 28. The final results for the City Council polling, declared to-night, give Labour eleven councillors, as against the Citizens' Association's five. The poll was headed by Mr Dan Sullivan. M.P., with 14,891 votes, and at the bottom, thirty-fourth on the list, is Dr Thacker, formerly Mayor and M.P., with 7.814 votes, who stood as an Independent. The elected councillors are: Messrs Sullivan, M.P.. Armstrong, M.P., Mrs McCombs. Carr. Cook, Mrs Herbert, Messrs Butterfield. Hunter, Macfarlntie, Beanland, Roberts. Manning. Heaven, Sharpe, Andrews and Lyons. The non-Labour members are Mrs Herbert, Messrs Beanland. Heaven, Andrews and Lyons. The official returns for the Hospital Board and Harbour Board are not available. On the preliminary count, the city lias eected four Labour, and four non-Labour to eight seats on tlie Hospital Board. Other districts, however, returned non-Labour candidates so that Labour will still he in a minority on the new hoard. For the Harbour Board, the city returned two Labour and two non-Labour, so Labour will he in a minority on the new board. EKETAHUXA.
At the poll yesterday, the Saturday half holidAy was carried by ten votes HASTINGS. The Wednesday half holiday was retained by 1665. against Saturday 70 J - PALMERSTON NORTH.
