ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The Diamond Jubilee celebrations in connection with the alwve took place on Sunday, special services being conducted by the Rev. T. W. Armour, of Knox Church, Christchurch. There were large congregations and the people entered very heartily into the spirit of the services. The singing was led by a full choir which at the morning service rendered the anthem “How Beautiful Upon The Mountain.” and in the evening “Cry Out And Shout Thou Inhabitant Of Zion.” Earnest and vigorous sermons were preached by Mr Armour, the text in the morning being “The righteousness of the Saints,’’ and iu tiie evening “it came to pass.” A special children’s service was held iu the afternoon, the address, being on the culture of roses. A special service was held on .Monday morning (Anzae Day) conducted by the Revs. J. W. Hayward and T. W. Armour. Mr Armour preached an eloquent sermon from the words “Is not this the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives.” Special hymns were sung and a collection taken up for the St. Andrew’s Shots Memorial Fund.
