The new cure consists of a serum, an extract of beef and liver. Experiments extending over several years have resulted in the successful treatment of ninety out of 109 patients. It is expected that the serum will soon he distributed under similar conditions to those for insulin. A GRAVE SITUATION. XEW YORK. April 21. The gravity of the disaster caused hy the floods and cyclones is increasing hourly. At piesent it is estimated there are 160 dead, and it is feared the list will he much heavier, as many inundated areas have not yet been penetrated. A thousand are reported injured. eighty thousand homeless, and the property damage is variously estimated at twenty to fifty million dollars.
