CBY TELECItAPU—PEK PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DRAMATIC TRIAL. *** ' PARIS, March 28. Dramatic- evidence for the defence of Bougrat (cabled on February 23rd) followed declarations by convicted criminals, including thieves, and the wife of a murderer whom Bougrat met in imprisonment. He subpoenaed them to prepare alibis. One alleged Bougrat confessed that he murdered Rumebe by pressing on his face a handkerchief soaked with prussic acid. Dr Barral (Professor of Toxicology) gave evidence that a portmanteau of Remebe proved he was not poisoned. Death must lie due to a therapeutic accident after an injection of arsenobenzol, which a doctor was entitled to use. Dr Besgrez .(chemical expert) agreed, adding that a doctor faced by a patient’s death of such a nature, with others waiting in an ante-room might lose his head and resort to conceai'ment. A colonel gave evidence of Bougrat’s bravery in succouring the wounded in No Man’s Land.
