AMERICAN CABLE NEWS

(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] U.S.A. AND MEXICO. NEW YORK, March 27. The “New York Times" Washington correspondent states: The United .States has had a narrow escape from a serious crisis in the relations with Mexico. Tt is understood that forged documents, bearing; the signature of Mr Kellog (U.S.A. Secretary of State) and other officials of the American Government, which ostensibly were instructions from the State Department to the American Ambassador in Mexico. purporting to show that the United States planned war on Mexico, or sought to foment a revolution in that country, fell into the hands of President Colics. A prominent American journalist, on visiting Calles, was shown those documents, as being convincing evidence of America’s bad faith in her relations with Mexico. The journalist suggested that Calles should inform President Coolidge, and there v an exchange of notes, which disclosed the documents to be spurious. It is not certain whether the perpetrator’s identitv is known.”
