BOWLING.

On Saturday afternoon op the local bowling green there was an interesting practice game some 18 players taking part. The green though naturally somewhat heavy after the recent rain rolled out exceptionally well, and it was a matter for regret that the promised matches with the Christchurch bowlers were unable to take place, as the conditions would have »been very satisfactory.

During the tea interval there was an interesting ceremony when ]he Ret. J. AY. Hayward on behalf of the link that went to Nelson at Christmas time and proved successful in winning the rink trophy at the tournament there presented to the Club an enlarged photograph of the xuccesslu! rink, suitable it allied. Air Hayward in asking the Club to accept the trophy to hang in the pavilion said it would serve in years to come to remind members of the success Tffi' rink had unanimously decided that the host way to expend the trophy was by the purchase of the memento and be asked the President to accept same and find a place on the walls loi it to bang. Mr H. A. Thompson (President) m accepting the handsome gilt x:iid the tiopliv would find an honoured position among the other mementoes of the success of the Club in outside competitions. Alembers of the Club fully appreciated the good wishes that accompanied the gift. The photo which is an excellent production, is the work of Air B. lbiein. and shows the successful winning link team at the Nelson tournament vD-: .Messrs 11. A. Thompson, AA'rtr. Wilson. D.
