LATE LOCALS.

News has been received of the death of Mrs John Condon of Maintain, which took place on, Saturday, while on the way across to the East Coast from Maintain by way of the Copeland Pass, seven miles from the Hermitage. The deceased was a member of the well known Cron family of Smith Westland. She leaves a husband, three sons and three daughters, one sister. ((Mrs Cowan of Okuru) and four brothers. The water in Dobson mine is now reduced to a distance of nearly eight hundred feet in the main dip. leaving less than U’O feet to be pumped from that dip. On Thursday the duplex was replaced by another pump from the Stale mine with a fiveineh pipe and a capacity of J8,1!39 gall ms an hour. As the roof of the Dobson mine is very liard. it is not expected that the bodies of the five entombed men will lie buried in great falls of debris. It is hoped to locate the bodies within a few days after the unwatering operations have been effected.
