AA'ATAROA STOCK SALE. AY. JEFFRIES AND CO.’S REPORT. On Wednesday at the above yards the annual autumn sale of surplus stock was held. A total yarding of 737 sheep and lambs and 51G bead of cattle were submitted to buyers of which total 443 sheep and 250 cattle were sold by this firm. There was a representative attendance of buyers and though sheep and lambs showed a marked fall in prices—out of all proportion to what was expected—there was however spirited bidding at times for tlie cattle lots. The quality and condition was of the usual Soutii standard and the range of prices as follows:—Fat and forward 3 year steers to £lO (which price was obtained by Messrs Nolan Bros, and N. Friend,). 2? to 3 year steers £8 17s fid. 2? year steers £6 17s 6d to £/ l<s (id. 2 year steers £5 2s fid to £fi 10s. heifers 21 years io £7. 2 year heifers £4 10s to £5 os. Cows in fair numbers sold according to condition at varying orices from £4 12s fid to £6. Our principal sales were as follows. pheep—3s f.m. ewes for T. A. Condon at 15s. 1 rani at £1 11 s fid; for Gibb Bros 85 wether lambs at 11s fid. 92 ewe lambs at 10s; for N. Friend 97 forward ewes and wethers at 2fis. 134 f. ami f. lambs at 19s: privately for a client 48 fat ewes at 2-is. Cattle—For Nolan Bros 12 f. and f. steers at £lO. 9 at £7 12s fid. 5 heifers at £7; for Jno. Condon 9 steers at £7 RK 9’at £7 2s Gd. 7 at £6 17s fid : for E. f’rcn 4 steers at £8 17s fid. 10 at £fi ss. 17 at £5 12s fid ; for Jno. Collet 5 steers at. £O. 4 heifers at £4 10s; for Harris Bros 7 rows and heifers at £5 10s. 9 at £4 12s fid; for J. C. (Ahristiensen 7 cows at £5 10s. 5 at or, 2s fid. 13 steers at £5 2s Gd, 5 heifers at £3 10s. 14 calves at £1; for .las. Green 14 steers at £7 2s fid, , heifers at £0 10s; for das. MacPherson 5 steers at £5 12s Gd. fi cows at £4 os ; for N. Friend 21 steers at £10; for AY. H. Chinn 12 steers at £5. 5 at £3 10s. Several entries of dry cows sold at from £3 to £4 12s fid.
