GERMAN GOVERNMENT BONDS. AVELLINGTOX. March 11. Information was received from the German CouPsul for New Zealand that the Gernilui Government bonds which were acquired by their present owners after the first of July, 1920, can now be presented for exchange into bonds of loan liquidation debt on a basis of R..AI. 2d (i.e. gold marks) for each AHCO.') of old loan. Applications will be considered from the first instant and close on the 30th of June, utter which the bonds which have not been presented will become valueless.
SUPREME COURT SENTENCES AUCKLAND, March 11.
Frank Lockhart Crawford, for theft at Rotorua, three years’ probation. AA illiam Henry Raymond Cyril Glover, three charges of forgery and one of false pretences, six months hard labour.

At the Police Court AYilliam AlcArtjiur and Gordon Harold Kessell were fined £0 each for pillaging cargo from the Northumberland in Calliope Dock. NAUTICAL COURT FINDING. AUCKLAND, March 11.
The captain nnd officers of the Northumberland were exonerated of all bhiifte bv the Nautical Court.
Mr Cutten said the only point the Court hud to consider was whether or not the ship was steered on the course set. It would be an unusual proceeding for a ship to be steered on any course difierent to that set by the master. The Court had carefully considered the evidence and it appeared to show that whilst taking a course which appeared la safe and proper one, she struck a submerged rock. No blame was attached to any one. The master’s certificate was returned to him.
SYSTEMATIC THIEF. AUCKLAND. March 11
Justice Herdnutn sentenced Frederick Roy Humphrey, aged 29, to two years hard labour, to be followed by one year reformation on five cluirges of theft and two charges of forgery. The total amount involved was £-180. Ilis Honour said lie was repelled to see a mail like the accused in this position. He was in receipt of a
good salary and with the stolen mone; had been living a fast life, goin; about with women. He bad beei stealing .systematically and had com mitted 245 thefts and- 245 forgeries
A TRAGIC STORY. CHRISTCHURCH, March 11. A tragic story of a Ihiv’s detith was told at the Magistrate’s Court to-day when Helen Mary Kinnimouth, a single woman was charged with having driven a motor on February 20th in ft negligent manner, thereby causing the death of David Noel Nelson, and a further charge of having driven without being the holder of a license. A witness evidence that lie saw the car mi the footpath where the boy was walking. It bad evidently tried to avoid a collision with another car. Accused was committed for trial. Bail was allowed. A SOLICITOR LOSES. AUCKLAND, March 11. Justice Hcrdman delivered judgment in a ease brought by George Hutchinson (solicitor) against the Native Trustee in which plaintiff sought to recover from defendant who is administrator ill the estate of Puhi Malii over £I9OO for costs incurred mill money lent, and for interest. Puhi Mahi committed suicide in January, 1923, and the value of his estate. His Honour was informed was about '£l4oo. The effect of the judgment is that plaintiff’s claims for £BSO and £71.7 and claim for interest was disallowed and the whole of hi.s claim for £634 excepting a small sum disappears tod. The judgment went in favour of the dcfenc'iint on a counter claim and a decree was made that the mortgage be delivered for cancellation. A SEAMAN’S MISTAKE. AUCKLAND, March 11.
At the Police Court, William Robert Alexander, seaman on the cable steamer Iris, admitted that lie assaulted the seaman off the Kaikorai (Frederick Wm. Smith). Complainant alleged he * was attackoil when escorting a young Ijidv home from a. party. He sustained a broken uo.se. concussion and bruises of the body, lie was in the hospital lor several. days. Accused said that lie mistook the complainant for another man, whom he alleged to have taken his girl to the party. Accused Wis lined £lO. with costs, the alternative being one month’s imprisonment. LYTTELTON WHARF DISPUTE. CHRISTCHURCH, Marrli 11. Calls were made "this morning tor labour to work the Storm and one hold of the Trcntendo. The eills were accepted, but on reaching the steamers the men again refused to start uujess six men gangs were placed at the holds. A meeting of the local Disputes Committee was held, and the men then re-commenced work under the out conditions. , „ , , The trouble spread to the Canterbury Compativ’s steamers Gale .and Breeze but, although some hundreds ol men acre idle, there was no response to calls for work, and both vessels remain idle. Tlie men give no explanation for their action. CAR OVERTURNS. MARTON, March 11.
Early this morning a ear containing u party of Wanganui Sportsmen, returning from the Purdv-Grinie boxing match at Wellington yesterday evening, left tho road near Turnkiua! and overturned. All received injuries, in two cases serious. The party comprised T. Souter (driver), IV. Quigley (bank manager), T. Harley (hotel licensee). John Co ull (auctioneer). Harley had one leg broken and it is feared the other is fractured. Quigley had bis shoulder ami ribs crushed. The former was admitted to the hospital.
