The testimony taken at the Executive Session of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has just been disclosed. It reveals that Senator Reed took strong exception to Britain's despatch of a cruiser to Nicaragua, as rallied on February 23rd. Senator Reed said: " I should very much dislike to sec Britain send a warship to Nicaragua, particularly with the consent of this Government. If we consent, and trouble arises, the first thing we know will be that Britain is in there with us, and that we have recognised her right to be there. Tt we say to her: ‘Keep out.’ we will have another embarrassing situation to put up with.” Various ottier members then severely criticised the American policy in Nicaragua. WANTED AT GENEVA. It is unofficially reported that increased efforts are being made to induce the Soviet 'to participate in the League’s disarmament conference next autumn.
The movement acquires significance for the reason that- the Eastern States are insisting that disarmament is impossible, without the participation of Afoseow.
