This was the only match decided this morning. riiEXTHAM, March 9. The second day’s shooting of the Army Rifle Championship Meeting commenced in dull, hut fine weather. The naval contingent permanent staff and reservists and officers went on with the second stage of the Army Championships and the cadets were engaged in. finishing first, the stage interrupted fast night owing to the failing light. The position of the army competitions when the scores were made up last night, was that in Class I, navals, permanent staff reservists and officers. Potty-officer Griffiths, of H.M.S. Ilemtw:n, and ‘Warrant-officer Kearney, permanent staff, were lending h,v 112 points each, out of a possible of 175. A tricky wind accounted for the poor scoring. Lieut. Hepburn (Hamilton) third with 111 followed by Slafi'-Sergt. Thompson (Palmerston North) 102, and Warrant Officer Frank (Nelson). 10s, Class 1 (Territorials) was headed by Wildbore (Palmerston North) 5)7, followed by Ellis (Napier) 01. Parker (Petone) 93, Homes (Blenheim) 01. The Trimlham Mulch, started yesterday, hut only the Tile competition portion was completed, the balance (moving target) will lie fired this afternoon. 510 competitors were present and includes 138 cadets, 302 navals, reservists and territorials. The first stage of the Territorial Championship was won by H. 11. Sapsf'ord (Wellington) whose score was 00 out of a possible of 125 for four practices (application, snap, rapid and moving target). The runner up was Sergt J. J. Boom (Stratford) 00, followed bv J. AT. Jamieson (Pukokohc) 97, J. E. Early (Wanganui) 97, Sergt. C. Beattie (Hastings) 05, Sergt. A. L. Mackay (Whangarei) 95, Cpl, C. Collyor (Hokitika) 01. T. 11. Bacon (Auckland) 94, H. Stevens (Hamilton) 01. J. J. Hooker (Wanganui) 03, Quartermaster Sergt. Tindale (Johnsonvillc) 91, Sergt. A. C. Wade (Christchurch) 91, Sergt.
