A meeting of the Advisory County Cricket Committee at Lords decided to recommend to the Marylebono Club the following system of points in County Championship matches: Eight for a win in a completed match; should a match be uncompleted. .5 points to the side leading on the first innings, and 3 to the opponents: in the event of a tie or no result on the first innings, 4 to tie given to each side, provided in the second case that' not less than six hours’ actual play have taken place, when less than six hours’ play have taken place, the match will not count for the championship: provided no result is obtained by this method, the scoring is to he by percentage, as previously.
The Counties agreed to a smaller ball.
Lord Harris mentioned the question of the eight-ball over for the tests in Australia. He said that a request from England, South Africa and the West Indies that it should be altered to six halls was strongly supported by leading Australian players. Meanwhile the Board of Control had adjourned the question till the next meeting in March.
