SUVA, Feb. 19.
The Warship Renown, with the Duke and Duchess of York, sailed to-day from Suva to Auckland. She left at ten o’clock this morning. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 20. Representatives of the unemployed, after a talk with Afr C. P. Agar, the President of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday, gave an assurance that they would use their influence with the men j to prevent demonstrations taking place' when the Duke of York visits Christ- r \ church.
Afr Agar’s argument was that tho men had nothing to gain, and everything to lose, by such a demnnstrat'Ori. This at length prevailed. He told tho unemployed leaders that demonstrations would not help them to influence those who were apathetic to-wnrds the unemployed, and would probably disgust and antagonise those at present willing to help.
XEAV ZEALAD PROGRAMME MELBOURNE, Fehuary 2. A wireless from the Renown states: - The Renown left Suva punctually at 10 o’clock. Tho weather is becoming more bearable as the vessel proepeds south. r At the staff conference with Captain Boyle, of New Zealand, the New Zealand programme was throughly dissected.
