FIRE AT GREY
Further particulars of the tire at Uddstroms. Greymouth yesterday afternoon show the damage was eonfined chiefly to the furniture factory, and the roof of the back portion of Messrs Moss and Co. The roof of AA’ade and Co’s caught alight, but the flames there were soon put out. A newlyerected brick repair shop built- by Messrs Hannah and Co in connection with their new building, proved an effective bar to the fire attacking the buildings fronting Mackay Street, hut the backs of the unoccupied offices between Moss’s and Uddstrom’s were damaged. Tho cause of the lire is not definitely known. Rome shavings were burnt yesterday morning upon the concrete floor of the furniture factory. hut when Air Uddstrom closed up at noon there was no sign of any lire, and he is 'at a loss to account for the cause.
