ELECTORAL KEEORALS. SYDNEY. February 17
Among the recommendations of the Federal Electoral Commission is one debarring members of the Federal Parliament from making any gifts or subscriptions to any individual or body of individuals, such as sporting or charitable bodies. Such gifts, in the opinion of the commission, amount to bribes, and should lie prohibited.
Another recommendation is that
when a member of Parliament is attacked in a newspaper, lii.s reply should he given the same space and prominence as the article of attack. ft also recommends the abolition of the signature to newspaper election articles and reports, and the extension of the electorate residential qualification to three months. BISHOP OF LONDON ON PRAYER ROOK. SYDNEY. Feb. 17. The Bishop of London attended at a luncheon given in his honour by the Institute of journalists. He complained of what he termed misrepresentation regarding the Revised Prayer Book. Recently, he said, thirty-four Bishops out of thirty-six agreed to change, but the onlv two items that were cabled to Australia were taken from the speeches of two who had opposed the revision.
