MONDAY

The Prime Minister ('the "Right Hon. I (;_ Contes. MAY) is returning to Xow "Zealand by the R.M.S. Maknra. due to arrive in Wellington on Monday next. He is to be accorded a civic reception at the Town Tlall the same evening. Mr Norwood will preside over the gathering, and it is understood the speeches of welcome will he confined to himself and two) other speakers. The Mayor -of Auckland (Mr G. Bailden) having intimated his wish to accord Mr Coates a similar- welcome on his arrival in Auckland to ha held in Hie Auckland Town Hall on Friday evoking, February 18th. Christchurch, however, has stolen a march on the North Island cities, and will extend its weleome on Sunday evening by broadcasting words of welcome from leading citizens, to the steamer Maknra, which will then be making her way near to the New Zealand coast.
