Malcolm Campbell in the racer. “Bluebird” smashed the world’s speed record at Pending Sands with a mean average spiced in excess of 174 miles hourly. The times were a kilometre 12.791 seconds or 174.843 miles per hour; mile 20.003 seconds or 174.224 miles per hour.
