Tut; Westland Power Board has been pursuing the even tenor oi its ways in the endeavour to do the right thing for the district and the ratepayers. The plans were well and carefully laid, and according to all accounts are progressing satisfactorily. The! situation, however is not pleasing to the Grey mouth morning paper which desires to have a finger in the pie. As usual it is destructive rather than constructive in its criticism. 'I lie paper asks a number of questions and it would be interesting to know at tms stage who is going to answer them. The Board, which is the best qualified to reply, would prohahl.v tell the newspaper. in a very courteous way of course, to mind their own business. The Board has the mandate of the ratepayers .and may answer only to them. But there are no queries from that source, and presumably the Board will do its oh ii business in its own way and own time. The (Ireymoiitb paper has something of a trenchant, for criticising Power Boards and has lavished a good deal of criticism on its own particular district:. There is probably room for more criticism in that, area, and no doubt the paper would be better employed in pursuing its usual policy in that quarter instead of invading another district where there is no apparent call for its interference. As far as matters stand, the Westland Power Board has moved very circumspectly in the "discharge of its duties. There has been little or no cost to tbe ratepayers. who are enjoying free services from a Board whose methods of business appear to indicate that only the best, interests of (lie district as a whole are at heart.
