Till-: suggestion put forward by a cooperative party, headed hv Air ,1. Behan, to complete the Coast road linking (ireymotitli and Westport is too good to lie lost sight, of. 'I he work itself is of outstanding importance, and would he of immense service to the whole Coast, in the extra facilities it would give for improved inter-com-munication. There is a standing promise on the part of the Prime Miuister to finish the road, and as that promise is not likely to lie revoked, the best stop is to fulfil it with the least possible delay. There is general support to the undertaking from this end of the district, and the pushing through of the job by one comprehensive contract would he preferable to tinkering with the big undertaking with a number of minor contracts. There will he more economy in pushing through with the road in one contract, and great saving in administration and supervision, as well as far less cost for tools and implements. 'The road promises such good service by reason of

the improved moans <>|' inter-com-munication that tho economic gain to the communities affected and to the travelling public is going to he so great a.s to fully justify the public expenditure. Here at this end. the district is waiting nntieutly for the finishing of the sea beach road between Kuniara Junction and Awatunn. but there would be no grumbling to wait a little longer if the patience would be rewarded by seeing the Greymoulh-Westport road completed the <inicker. Tlie completion ol the latter would he further justification for the former, so much are the two works inter-locked. Tho Government owes it to the district to honor its promise and complete the road in question in the shortest period possible.
