A REMARKABLE SYSTEM

Tlie latest addition to the jEOtli. century wonders is a van like an undersized “Black .Maria” with a circular frame aerial on its rod. It is used as a post office sleuth in tracking down wire*less oscillators. There is a hand on an innocent looking dial inside tho van which is able to point with unerring certaintlv to the actual house in which the* mysterious annoying oscillator resides, alter which officers outer, and gentle persuason with expert guidance follows. It is truly an ingenious system. Bearings are taken on tho three sides of the area, visited, and arc plotted down on a large-scale map. If the lines intersect each other the location of the oscillator is known, and tho van proceeds immediatoy in the indicated direction. As the house is approached, the oscillations become gradually fainter, till zero point is readied when the van gets immediately before the house. ENGLISH MYSTERY. LONDON, January 27. The police are making strenuous efforts in inquiring as to the fate of Mrs Dorothy Bush ton a young woman, whose mutilated body was found on a railway line near Wickford, in Essex She was only married on Boxing Day. Thee new and powerful radio broadcasting station to he provided in Wellington for the Radio Broadcasting Company is to he erected on one of the highest points of Rosoneath. The new station is to he provided with JO K.V.A. high voltage plant, which should he sufficient to enable listeners to hear from Whangarei to Invercargill. It is expected the new station will he ready about the middle of April.
